Task brief
The task brief is laid on a small tablecloth on a table inside the greenhouse. The brief for the task is as follows:
Invent an egg timer.
David will boil his egg using your timer.
He wants his eggs with a hard white and a soft yolk: about six minutes.
The egg which is most to David’s satisfaction wins.
You may not use any existing timing devices.
You have 30 minutes.
Your time starts now.
Task notes
- Also on the table in the greenhouse are an eggcup containing an egg, a spoon, and a hotplate, on top of which there is a pan of water.
- In the studio, David clarifies that the contestants also got to chose whether the egg should be added to a cold pan of water, or a boiling pan of water, when their timer was started.
