The brief for the task is as follows:
Make the most accurate and inventive egg timer.
You have 10 minutes to plan your egg timer, and then 20 minutes to make your egg timer, after which Alex will boil an egg for as long as your egg timer lasts.
The Taskmaster likes his eggs runny, but not too runny.
You may not use any pre-existing timing devices.

Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!
- David made a giant sand timer, but did not measure how much sand he actually needed, so his timer lasted 18 minutes and 4 seconds.
- Ed laid out 360 edible items on a table (including Maltesers, grapes, and Wotsits) and instructed him to eat one item every second. As Alex could not physically eat one item every second, his egg timer lasted 18 minutes and 32 seconds.
- Jo asked Alex to ring her, so she could sing the song Jerusalem to him as she was driven home. Her egg timer made her egg runny, but not too runny.
- Katy made Alex undergo Chinese water torture by dripping a bag of water onto his head. Her egg end up slightly hard-boiled.
- Rose instructed Alex to light birthday candles on a cake and wait until they had melted down flush with the top of the cake, before putting the egg in a bowl of ice to stop it cooking. Her egg timer made the egg runny, but not too runny.
