Attempts
Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- Linda starts by calling Telenor, one of the largest mobile service providers in Scandinavia. After getting busy or line disconnected signals from the next few numbers she dials, Linda eventually manages to phone a business with a fax machine. The woman on the other end of the line says that she tried to send the fax, but that the fax machine they have is quite old. Exasperated, Linda does her own drawing, and pretends that it has been faxed over from the company she called. Linda is disqualified.
- Sofie calls her boyfriend, asking if he knows how fax machines work. She then tries calling a photo development store, asking if they're equipped to send faxes (the clerk replies that they haven’t done so in 15 years). She then calls her father for advice on places to call, before debating calling Brother (the manufacturer of the fax machine). Whomever she next calls tells her that some doctors and pharmacies still have fax machines. Sofie calls a pharmacy, and finds out they still have a fax machine. Sofie receives a fax in 49 minutes 35 seconds, and earns fourth place.
- Tobias calls a few of his friends asking if they have a fax machine, before settling on Deniz, whom he calls the most technically competent in his network. Deniz is sceptical of Tobias' intentions, thinking it’s all a prank, but tells Tobias that it’s possible to send a fax online (i.e. via apps). Tobias draws a picture of Lasse and texts it to Deniz, who then uses an app to send the fax to the machine. Tobias receives a fax in 32 minutes 12 seconds, and earns second place.
- Simon immediately realises that he can send a fax via an app, so he pivots his thinking to earning the bonus point for the best drawing; he phones Rasmus Rafael and asks for a drawing of Lasse Rimmer. While waiting for the drawing, Simon tests the app by faxing a picture of himself and Mark. Simon loses time earning enough credits in an advertising game so he can send the fax for free from the app, but eventually he is able to fax the picture of Lasse – which is squashed near the top of the page, instead of taking the whole page. After another try, Simon finally receives a fax with a correctly-proportioned drawing of Lasse. It is determined that Simon’s time will be marked by the first fax he received, despite the fact that it was not properly formatted. Simon receives a fax in 41 minutes and earns third place, but also earns the bonus point for best drawing. NOTE: In the studio, Simon reveals that his phone reception wasn’t the best at the location where the task was filmed, and he learned afterwards that Rasmus felt Simon had pressured him into accepting a lower rate for the drawing (when Simon was just trying to understand what he was saying). To make amends, Simon commissioned Rasmus to create a portrait of the entire cast, framed copies of which he presents to his fellow competitors, as well as to Lasse and Mark. The picture references Simon’s attempt at the meatball task, Jonas drinking endless amounts of coffee, Sofie’s attempt at the ‘Don’t blink’ task, Linda with a cake (either a reference to the cake decoration or cake destroying tasks), and Tobias’ attempt at the ‘Make a thought-provoking movie’ task.
- Jonas declares that the task is about having a large network. He calls his mother, and asks if her office still has a fax machine. Surprisingly, they do. Jonas asks his mother to draw a picture of Lasse Rimmer and fax it to him, which she does. Jonas calls his mother back to tell her that he received the fax; sweetly, she asks if he won, and Jonas replies that according to her, he always wins. Jonas receives a fax in 16 minutes 58 seconds, and he wins the task.
