Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Simon frantically tries to build a catapult out of a toolbox and various flat surfaces from the shed. For each flat surface that does not get the shoe into the tub, he makes a show of throwing it away. He considers using Mark as a backboard, but decides against it (“that’s not cool”). Simon eventually uses a skateboard as his launch surface, which comes close to the tub, so he continues trying with it. He eventually manages to launch a shoe into the tub. Simon finishes in 5 minutes 26 seconds and comes second.
  • Jonas rolls a barrel onto the red mat, then adds a long wooden plank. He experiments with where to place the plank to get the shoe close to the bathtub. Eventually he gets a large wooden board and has Mark stand on the opposite end of the tub to act as a sort of backboard to help guide the shoe. After a few more tries, the shoe hits the backboard and slides into the tub. Jonas finishes in 6 minutes 51 seconds and comes third.
  • Tobias reads the task a few times, and realises that while the catapult must be built on the red mat, the task does not forbid subsequently moving the catapult. Tobias builds his catapult out of a golf club bag (presumably because it has wheels, so is easily moved) and a butterfly net, and launches his shoe directly next to the tub. After a few tries with the butterfly net, he swaps it out for a short shovel, and successfully launches the shoe into the tub. Tobias finishes in 4 minutes 12 seconds and wins the task.
  • After standing for a few minutes declaring that she is not good at building things, Linda eventually builds a catapult out of a spool of cable and a ski – however, she builds the catapult backwards by placing the ski the wrong way around more than once. After a few failed tries, Linda eventually realises that she can move the catapult once it has been built, and after a few shots to figure out the correct distance to put the catapult from the tub, manages to launch a shoe into the tub. Linda finishes in 9 minutes 52 seconds and comes fourth.
  • Sofie decides that she can serve as a catapult. She lays on her back on the red mat and uses her feet to fling the shoe towards the tub. This method isn’t completely awful, as she actually manages to get the shoe to hit the tub a few times (just not land inside of it). Eventually she utilises Mark as a catapult, balancing various objects on his back to serve as something to launch the shoe, before finally deciding on using a short board. At some point Sofie also decides to put a boogie board on a chair on the opposite side of the tub, to serve as a backboard. After several tries with the board, Sofie manages to hit the boogie board with the shoe, and it slides into the tub. Sofie finishes in 27 minutes and comes last.
