Attempts
Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- Sofie does not realise that Mark can see her in the shed. When he blows the duck call to signify that he has seen her, she does not immediately realise that she has been disqualified, just that he can see her. She covers up his platform with a blanket and begins smuggling things out of the shed and into the igloo. When she asks Mark how much time she has left, he tells her to reread the task; it is only then that she realises she disqualified herself at the very beginning. As she did not break any rules – but did not smuggle anything prior to being seen – Sophie earns no points.
- Simon climbs onto the porch and uses a patio umbrella to not only try to obscure Mark’s view, but to block the movement of Mark’s platform. When he tries to adjust the umbrella to cover more of Mark’s field of vision, he accidentally steps in front of the open window and is seen by Mark. As he did not break any rules – but did not smuggle anything prior to being seen – Simon earns no points.
- Linda realises that the first thing she needs to do is block Mark’s view of her. She throws a blanket through the window where Mark is sitting, then follows up with putting a pot on his head. Linda then smuggles some things from the shed to the igloo, before deciding to put Mark to work. Keeping the blanket on his head, Linda has Mark drag items behind him as he walks blindfolded across the yard, while she continues smuggling items. When she realises Mark is more of a hindrance, she has him sit in the tub while she continues to smuggle items for the rest of her time. However, in the studio, Mark reveals his “karma boomerang” - that he actually saw Linda while she was throwing the blanket on his head, as well as when she removed the blanket to put the pot on instead, and that she did not realise that when he blew the duck call, she was disqualified. As she did not break any rules – but did not smuggle anything prior to being seen – Linda earns no points.
- Tobias grabs a heavy planter from the patio and wedges it against Mark’s platform, stopping it from spinning. He spends the rest of his time smuggling items into the shed, making sure to separate them when needed (for example, emptying an entire box of screws, to make sure that each screw is counted individually). Tobias smuggles a total of 1,923 things – 1,800 of which were just screws. Tobias comes second.
- Jonas sneaks back into the house and into the basement to access the power supply. He cuts off the power to the platform that is spinning Mark; he calls out to Mark to clarify what he can see, to make sure that Mark has not stopped spinning at an angle where he can see the yard. He spends the rest of his time smuggling items into the shed, with the aid of a wheelbarrow. Jonas manages to empty the shed of everything but a heavy toolbox. Jonas smuggles a total of 3,245 things. Jonas wins the task.
