Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Janne put the ice block in a bin and wheels it to the nearby dock, where he throws the ice into the water. It remains floating in the water until the time runs out. As there is still some ice remaining, Janne is disqualified.
  • Jenni places the ice block in the sink and runs the tap over it while also boiling some water. While the water is running, she stabs the ice with a knife, to break it into smaller pieces, and make it easier to melt. Jenni completes the task in 18 minutes and 20 seconds.
  • Jukka throws the block of ice onto the ground to break it into pieces, and then melts the pieces on the stove. He sprays the remnants that he can't pick up with a hose. As there is still some ice remaining when the time runs out, Jukka is disqualified.
  • Minka smashes the ice into smaller pieces using an axe, and then melts some of it with a blow torch. She gathers much of the remaining ice up and puts it in the sink, where she runs water over it until it has disappeared. Her attempt takes 16 minutes and 2 seconds. However, Pilvi then reveals some additional footage of Minka's attempt in which she is seen throwing chunks of ice into a bin, when she thinks no-one is looking (the film crew were all inside, but a camera was still running outside). She is therefore disqualified.
  • Roni smashes the ice into smaller pieces with a hammer. He tries to use the oven to melt it, but can't figure out how to turn it on, and also wasn't sure if it was okay to put a pot in the oven. He instead melts the ice in a pot on the stove. He tries to find wooden stirring utensils, but can't figure out where they are stored, so ends up using the handle of the hammer to stir the pot instead. However, since there is still some ice left over when the time runs out, he is disqualified.
