Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Janne attempts to spray the sauna stove with a hose, but the water pressure is not strong enough for the water to reach it. He then fills a water balloon with lighter fluid, thinking that he could throw the balloon at the stove. Instead, he realises it would be easier to create a long trail of lighter fluid from the stove, back to where he is standing, so he can light the trail from a distance. However, this plan does not work out for him. He also tries to make a flammable trail out of hand sanitiser and matches, but this plan also fails. His only official successful attempt is when he squirts the fire with lighter fluid from a distance of 10 metres and 75 centimetres.
  • Jenni brings a hose up to the second story window and squirts the stove from there. The distance is measured at 10 metres and 60 centimetres.
  • Jukka fills a water bottle with water, and throws it at the stove with the cap off, making the stove hiss on his first attempt. He makes several attempts from longer distances, and misses all but one of them. His final and longest successful attempt is measured at 37 metres and 10 centimetres.
  • Mikko fills a plastic bag with water, and throws it at the stove from the front lawn, but it falls short. He then fills up a water bottle with water and throws that at the stove with the lid off, but misses his target completely. After trying this method several more times, he is able to make the stove hiss from 24 metres and 55 centimetres.
  • Roni builds a tripod contraption using wooden poles, a ladle, and some rope. He sets it up directly next to the stove, so that when he pulls on the rope from a distance, it launches water into the stove from a ladle. His attempt is successful from a distance of exactly 48 metres.
