Attempts
Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- After looking at the contents of the caravan, Gilmário ponders the definition of ‘mess’, and wonders if he can create one by just beating up crew members, then using ice to fix his mess. He decides to instead mess up the caravan, as he can make a “controlled mess”. He mainly just moves things from their original positions and places them on the caravan floor, or in a pile just outside of the caravan. However, he does throw an entire canister of straws out the door, which scatters them around in the fake foliage outside of the caravan. Not much is shown of Gilmário’s cleaning attempt, but he does flash a thumbs up after Nuno indicates that his time is up, and in the studio it is revealed that he even went so far as to dust the caravan. Gilmário earns second place.
- Inês immediately starts throwing items out of the caravan – starting mainly with various pillows and cushions. She also dresses Nuno up with various items from the caravan, and says she enjoys making him look silly. She cleans up her mess efficiently, but she (or Nuno, as she had placed it on his head and it fell off) accidentally broke a pottery pig decoration, and declares that it will be difficult to glue back together in her allotted time, though she does try. Nuno points out to her afterwards that a chair is still turned over. Inês CB earns fourth place.
- Jessica interprets ‘mess’ as noise. She enters the caravan, grabs a large bell and a djembe before running down to the shed, telling Nuno to join her. She pulls out a large barrel and a hammer, and tells Nuno to start blowing the whistle on her mark. While Nuno blows his whistle, Jessica uses the bell and hammer to bang on the barrel and the djembe, while she screams. She seems to put everything back where it came from – including returning the djembe and bell back to the caravan. Jessica earns joint third place.
- Toy interprets ‘mess’ as both physical mess and noise. He grabs the djembe from the caravan and runs down to the shed. He pulls out various items and places them in a line (claiming he likes to make a mess “in an organised way”), then sits down and plays the djembe, improvising a song about his mess. Toy seems to put everything back in the shed the way it was, and really tries to place everything back where it was – including himself, as he closes himself inside the caravan, as that’s where he was when the task started. He has, however, forgotten that he handed Nuno a heart pillow – which Nuno still has. When Nuno implies that Toy has forgotten something, Toy realises his mistake and retrieves the pillow before his time runs out. Toy earns joint third place.
- Inês pulls a Katherine Ryan, and decides to use her phone to create a mess – by informing her loved ones that her unborn child is actually a girl, and that instead of 'Joaquim', they will have to name her 'Joaquina' (which is a very old-fashioned name). Unfortunately for Inês, her parents are totally okay with it. Inês also calls her boyfriend’s parents to tell them the same lie about her unborn child. While her boyfriend’s father disagrees with the name change, he doesn’t sound particularly angry about the whole thing. Inês decides to call her agent, only on this call she declares that she’s leaving the show for good because she caught Nuno saying awful things about her. Nuno sits on a nearby wall, seemingly genuinely upset, and Inês breaks into laughter after ending the phone call. In her last minute of time, Inês calls everyone back and informs them that it was all a prank. While Inês is on the phone explaining things to her agent, Nuno yells that he’s a good person and he doesn’t talk badly about others. Inês wins the task.
