Task brief

The actual text of the task brief is not known. The text below is paraphrased based on information disclosed in the episode:

The participants have macaroons in front of them.

They must always put forward the same amount of macaroons, or more, than the previous participant, and the last one to run out of macaroons wins.

Each participant must say how many they have put forward, but they can lie.

If they are caught lying, they must give the number they reported in their lie to the person who exposed them.

If a participant wrongly accuses someone of lying, they must give up the same number to the accused.

When someone is checked for lying, we start from scratch.

Then the next person can put forward as many macaroons as they want.

Task notes

  • The contestants are lined up behind tables on the stage, separated by fabric screens to prevent them seeing what each other are doing.
  • On each contestant's table, there are two plates, both face-down.
  • Between the plates, there is a small pile of macaroons.
  • The contestants place their macaroon bids on the plate at the front of the table. The purpose of the second plate is unclear.

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • In the first round, Henriette puts forward three macaroons, and tells the truth about that. In the second round, she puts forward two macaroons, and again tells the truth. She then correctly accuses Martha of lying, and so receives three macaroons from her. In round three, she correctly calls out Espen's lie, and also receives three macaroons from him. She does not participate in round four, as Live is caught in a lie before her turn. In round five, she puts forward two macaroons, and tells the truth about that. Kristoffer incorrectly calls her out on a lie, and so has to give up his final remaining Macaroon to her. In the sixth round, she correctly calls Martha out on a lie, but receives no macaroons from her, since she did not have any left. In the seventh round, she incorrectly accuses Live of lying, so has to give her one of her macaroons. In the eighth round, she puts forward two macaroons, and tells the truth about it. Espen incorrectly calls her out on a lie, so she receives two macaroons from him. In the ninth round, she correctly calls Live out on a lie, and receives three macaroons from her. In the tenth round, she puts forward two macaroons and tells the truth about it. In the eleventh round, she puts forward just one macaroon, but claims to have put forward three. Live correctly calls her out on this lie, taking her three remaining macaroons from her. Henriette is thus the last player eliminated from the task.
  • In the first round, Kristoffer puts forward three macaroons, and tells the truth about that. He then accuses Espen of lying, so has to give three of his own macaroons to him. In the second round, Kristoffer puts forward two macaroons, and tells the truth about that. At this point, he is completely out of macaroons, but Olli does not appear to notice. Kristoffer does not participate in round three, as Espen is caught in a lie before his turn. In round four, he correctly calls Live out on a lie, and receives one macaroon from her. He then loses that single macaroon to Henriette in the fifth round, after incorrectly calling her out on a lie. He is thus the first one eliminated from the task.
  • In the first round, Martha puts forward two macaroons, but claims she is putting forward three. In the second round, she puts forward one macaroon, but claims she is putting forward three. Henriette correctly calls her out on the lie, so Martha has to give Henriette three of her macaroons. At this point, she is completely out of macaroons, but Olli apparently did not notice, so she plays on. She does not participate in the third, fourth, or fifth rounds, as Espen and Live get caught lying, and then Kristoffer gets eliminated. In the sixth round, she claims to put forward one macaroon (which she does not have) and gets caught in her lie by Henriette. It is at this point that Olli notices she has no macaroons, and she is eliminated from the task second.
  • In the first round, Espen puts forward three macaroons, and tells the truth about that. Kristoffer accuses him of lying, so has to give three of his own macaroons to Espen. Espen does not participate in round two, because Martha gets caught in her lie before his turn. In round three, he puts forward one macaroon, but claims it is three. Henriette correctly calls him out on the lie, and receives three macaroons from him. He does not participate in the fourth, fifth, or sixth rounds, as Live gets caught in a lie, and then Kristoffer and Martha are eliminated. In the seventh round, he puts forward one macaroon and then claims to be lying about putting forward one. In the eighth round, he incorrectly accuses Henriette of lying, so loses two of his macaroons to her. In the ninth round, he puts no macaroons forward, but claims to have put forward one. In the tenth round, he puts no macaroons forward, but claims to have put forward two. Live correctly calls him on his lie, and so takes his final two macaroons. He is eliminated from the task third.
  • Live does not participate in the first round, as Espen gets wrongly accused of lying before her turn. In the second round, she puts forward no macaroons, but claims she has put forward one. She does not participate in the third roound, as Espen gets caught in a lie before her turn. In round four, she again puts forward no macaroons, but claims she has put one forward. Kristoffer calls her out on her lie, and so receives one macaroon from her. She does not participate in the fifth or sixth rounds, as Kristoffer and Martha are eliminated. In the seventh round, she puts forward one macaroon and tells the truth about it. Henriette wrongly calls her out on a lie, so Live receives one macaroon from her. She does not partipate in the eighth round, as Henriette is incorrectly accused of lying. In the ninth round, she puts forward no macaroons, but claims to put forward three. She is called out on this lie by Henriette, who receives three macaroons from her. In the tenth round, she correctly calls Espen out on a lie, and takes his final two macaroons. In the eleventh round, she puts forward just one macaroon, but claims to put forward two. She then correctly calls out Henriette on a lie, and takes her last three macaroons from her, winning the task.

Notes on task scores

  • Martha is awarded fourth place, even though she was the first one to run out of macaroons, because apparently no-one noticed until she was exposed as having lied about her bid in the second round.
