Attempts
Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Images will be added later.
- Pirjo immediately declares that she’ll just need to hide from the camera. She runs to the shed and fills a bin with long pole-like objects, such as a broom, a hockey stick, and a rake. At some point she retrieves another bin, and lays both horizontally along the course. Pirjo apparently abandons whatever idea she had with the long items, as when she starts the course, several plastic tubs filled with clothing help to provide cover, along with the bins. Pirjo gets down on the ground and begins crawling. Unfortunately, her backside can be seen poking up from behind the barricade. When she runs out of barricade, Pirjo ducks under a large sheet and crawls the rest of the length of the course, adding another tarp for good measure. Pirjo also stands up at the end of the course, in full view of the camera, and asks Pilvi if she needs to return to the starting point to end the task. In the studio, Pilvi presents a composite image of all of the photos taken during Pirjo’s attempt, and her back end is clearly visible at all points behind the bin barricade. Jaakko also points out that Pirjo broke the rules by moving the sheet and tarp after her attempt had started. Despite breaking the rules, Pirjo earns fourth place. Pilvi then shows some additional footage from Pirjo’s attempt, in which she is constantly caught on camera as she tries to retrieve the task brief, to figure out exactly when the task was meant to be completed. Jaakko awards Pirjo a bonus point, after watching this, for entertainment value.
- Eija inspects the camera, to see how much of the course can be seen through the lens. She spends the majority of her time talking to Pilvi, trying to figure out how she could possibly not be seen by the camera (“A person can’t just make themselves not exist”). When her time begins, Eija effectively plays a game of ‘Red Light, Green Light’, simply running and stopping every two seconds, completely out in the open, and in full view of the camera. In the studio, Eija (probably jokingly) states that her logic was that if she closes her eyes and is unable to see anything, then nothing can see her. In the studio, Pilvi presents a composite image of all of the photos taken during Eija’s attempt, showing all of the points at which she was fully visible to the camera. Jaakko presents his own copy of the picture, calling it “inspiring”. Eija earns last place, plus two bonus points from Jaakko for entertainment value.
- Kalle goes to the shed and gathers items in a wheelbarrow to transport them back to the task area. Kalle’s plan consists of placing several large objects at various points along the course, which he can then hide behind. He goes back to the shed and returns with three more bins, adding them to the ladder and wheelbarrow that he has already placed on the course. Once his time starts, he darts from one hiding place to the next, squatting behind each object to completely hide from the camera, and he successfully travels to the end of the course and then back again. In the studio, Pilvi presents a composite image of all of the photos taken during Kalle’s attempt and, while he is mostly hidden behind his chosen objects, he is still somewhat visible in a few of his hiding spots. He earns third place.
- Fathi inspects the camera, to see how much of the course can be seen through the lens. He wonders aloud if he can just go through the house, to avoid the camera. He returns to the starting post, and reads the task again. He then realises that he can actually just walk around the house, and approach the finish post from the opposite side, so does exactly that. In the studio, Pilvi presents a composite image of all of the photos taken during Fathi’s attempt, and he is nowhere to be seen. Fathi therefore earns joint first place, with Paleface.
- Paleface’s footage starts almost immediately after he’s finished reading the task, and he tells Pilvi that he’s ready to start. He then turns and jogs around the back of the house, approaching the finishing post from the other side. After jogging back to the starting post, he does the course all over again for good measure. In the studio, Paleface admits that he thought he might have started the course before Pilvi officially told him to, so he decided to do it again, just to be safe. Pilvi then presents a composite image of all of the photos taken during Paleface’s attempt, and he is nowhere to be seen. Paleface therefore earns joint first place, with Fathi.
