Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Draw the mystery object under your table, on the drawing board.

The drawing portraying the object the most accurately wins.

You must stare at the Taskmaster intimidatingly throughout the whole task.

You have 2 minutes.

Most accurate drawing wins.

Your time starts from the Taskmaster’s cue.

Task notes

  • The contestants are all seated at tables on stage, and are provided with a canvas to draw on, and some felt-tip markers to draw with. Underneath each table, there is a different object for each contestant, balanced on top of an upturned bucket: a toilet brush, a small bingo machine, a fur hat, a microscope, and a plastic toy Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Images will be added later.

  • Kalle’s object is a metal toilet brush holder and brush, which he correctly identifies and draws. Jaakko awards Kalle joint third place, but just two points.
  • Miska’s object is a small bingo machine, though it takes him almost all of the allotted time to figure this out. Based on his drawing, he seems to have initially thought it was a bowling ball, and then some sort of boat. He does manage to correct his drawing before the time runs out, though, and he earns joint second place, but just three points.
  • Eija’s object is a fur hat, which she correctly identifies and draws. She also identifies and draws the mannequin head which is modelling the hat. Of all of the contestants, Eija is the one who looks down at her drawing the most, during the task, but she is also the one who makes the most menacing sound effects while trying to look intimidatingly at Jaakko. Jaakko rules that Eija has the best drawing, and awards her first place, but just four points, as she did not consistently stare at him.
  • Fathi’s object is a microscope, which he correctly identifies and draws, though he has trouble actually naming it in the studio, incorrectly calling it a “stethoscope” and a “telescope”. Jaakko awards Fathi joint third place, but just two points.
  • Pirjo’s object is a plastic Tyrannosaurus Rex toy, which she correctly identifies and draws. Jaakko rules that Pirjo had the most “persistently intimidating” stare of all five contestants. He awards her joint second place, but just three points.
