Task briefs

The main task brief is leant against a wooden treasure chest, on a plinth in the living room. The secret task briefs are presented to Andy and Jack on the table in the hutch. The briefs for the task are as follows:

To Andy and Jack:

You must lie throughout the next task.

Every time you tell the truth, everyone in your team will lose an actual Taskmaster point.

Your time starts when you walk into the task room, and ends when you leave after the task is complete.

To everyone:

Work out what is in the box.

You must not look, feel, or inspect the box in any way.

Your team-mate must not show you the contents of the box.

They may only make silent facial expressions, unless answering Alex’s questions.

Your team-mate must not nod or shake their head.

Fastest to work out what’s in the box wins.

Your time starts and ends on Alex’s whistle.

Task notes

  • The table has been removed from the living room, and the plinth with the chest on it is sat in its place, with chairs on either side of it for the contestants.
  • The contestant who has been appointed the role of conveying the contents of the chest to their team-mate(s) is given a copy of the nautically-themed painting of Greg to hold, which has a hole cut into it for them to place their face through (presumably to help remind them not to shake or nod their head).
  • The chest contains a single lemon, and a £5 note.
  • There are some similarities between this task and the ‘Convey an object using only facial expressions, noises, adjectives & verbs‘ task from series 8, but they are also different enough that this one is categorised as original here.
