Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Bounce one of these balls the most times so that it lands in that bin.

After propelling the ball you may not touch or strike it on its way to that bin.

Most bounces between propulsion and that bin wins.

You must use the ball you touched first.

You have 20 minutes.

Your time starts now.

Attempts

Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!

  • Iain tested the balls by picking them up with books between his hands, eventually choosing the bouncy ball. He then bounced the ball through a tube into the bin, with the ball bouncing 36 times.
  • Joe chose the rubber band ball, putting the bin on its side and rolling the ball towards it. His ball bounced 4 times into the bin.
  • Lou accidentally chose her ball before reading the task fully by touching the plastic ball. She then tied a wire to the ball and 'bounced' it up and down on the wire 225 timesbefore dropping it in the bin.
  • Paul chose the tennis ball, throwing it up on the roof and letting it bounce down, where he caught it with the bin after 9 bounces
  • Sian accidentally chose her ball before reading the task by touching the rubber band ball. After initially trying to just bounce the ball into the bin (including attempts to catapult it from a net), she put the ball in the net and 'bounced' it up and down on the ground 112 times before dropping it into the bin.
