Task brief

The task brief is in David’s possession in the study. The brief for the task is as follows:

Help yourself solve this task in the future.

Build a tower as high as possible in the triangle.

If any object touches the triangle or the floor, that object cannot be included in the tower.

You may not touch an object at the same time as your future self.

The objects may not be of the same type.

Your tower must be able to stand freely without support for at least five seconds.

Tallest tower inside the triangle in 10 minutes wins.

Your time starts when this task is thrown into the future.

Your time starts when you get this task from yourself.

Task notes

The comfy chairs that are normally in the study have been removed, and a temporary wall has been set up in their place, dividing the room in half.
In this wall, there is a large hole covered with black fabric, which David refers to as a “standard black hole”.
On the left-hand side of the wall, above the hole, is a sign reading ‘FRAMTIDEN’ (‘THE FUTURE’).
On the right-hand side of the room, an orange wooden triangular frame has been placed on the ground, within which the contestants must build their towers.
The contestants are filmed separately on both sides of the wall during both the reading of the task brief and their actual attempts, and the footage is then composited for broadcast, with a member of the production team feeding items through the hole, to provide the illusion that the contestants are interacting with themselves across time.
