Task brief
The task brief is laid on a table in the back of a black van, which has been parked on the driveway. The brief for the task is as follows:
Steal the statue of Archimedes.
You have 15 minutes of observation and preparation in the van, then 15 minutes to carry out your heist.
Most sophisticated successful heist wins.
Your time starts now.

Task notes
- A sign has been affixed above the front door of the house which reads ‘TASKMASTER MUSEUM’.
- The contestants begin the task by leaving the ‘museum’ via the front door and entering the black van which has been parked on the driveway (where there is a sign indicating that it is the ‘CAR PARK’).
- On a table inside the van, there are blueprints of the ‘museum’, a clipboard with photos and information about Alex Horne, a set of walkie-talkies, a pot full of coloured marker pens, and a monitor displaying the feeds from the various security cameras set up around the grounds.
- A small statue of Archimedes is on display within a locked perspex box on the table in the ‘statue room’ (hutch). The box has a small pressure plate underneath it, which sets off an alarm if the pressure decreases. There is also a pressure plate hidden beneath a doormat just inside the hutch, which sets off an alarm if anyone steps on it.
- Alex is wearing a security guard’s uniform, carrying the key to unlock the perspex box containing the statue of Archimedes in his left breast jacket pocket. He is also carrying around a clipboard, printed on the back of which is the text ‘IMPORTANT CODES’. Printed on the paper attached to the clipboard is the number ‘301022’, which is the code needed to open the ‘staff room’ (caravan) door without sounding the alarm.
- Alex patrols a fixed route around the house every two minutes:
- He leaves the ‘security office’ (lab) and walks up the hallway.
- He exits the house via the front door, and then walks over to check the ‘staff room’ (caravan) door alarm.
- He walks around the back of the ‘staff room’ (caravan) and checks the shed.
- He walks along the side of the house and enters the ‘statue room’ (hutch) to check that the doormat pressure pad alarm works, and that the statue is still present.
- He enters the ‘art room’ (living room) via the external double doors.
- He enters the hallway from the ‘art room’, takes off his jacket and hangs it on a hook on a storage cupboard door, and heads into the toilet.
- He walks back down the hallway and checks the camera feeds in the ‘security office’ (lab).
- There are security cameras dotted around the house and its grounds, the feeds from which are displayed on a monitor in the ‘security office’ (and also on the monitor in the van). Inside the camera room, there is a mannequin dressed in a security guard’s uniform, apparently watching the monitors.
- If Alex spots anyone on the camera feeds, or any alarms are set off, he immediately goes to investigate. If he finds anyone, he escorts them back to the ‘car park’ while insisting that they shouldn’t be there because the ‘museum’ is closed.
- Once the contestants steal the statue and get it back to the van, they are driven out of the gate in the van.
- This task has similarities to the ‘Steal the world’s best bun‘ and ‘Steal the Taskmaster’s portrait‘ tasks, but is distinct enough to be categorised here as original.
