Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Make that balloon hover untethered for 20 seconds.

During the hovering, the top of the balloon must not be higher than your chin, and the bottom of the balloon must not be lower than your waist.

Also, you must sneer throughout the 20 seconds.

Fastest wins.

Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!

Charlotte tried to electrostatically charge the balloon by rubbing it against her clothes. After that she tried holding the balloon down with the task paper. She lost hold of the balloon and it flew away. She received 0 points.
Jamali got Alex to get a woollen jumper from one of the crew members. He tied the jumper around his waist and used a mix of static charge and the sleeves of the jumper on top of the balloon to keep it in place. He took 4 minutes and 50 seconds, receiving 5 points.
Lee attempted to tie a weight to the balloon. At first he tried the goggles from his costume, but they were too heavy. He then tried a sponge, but that was too heavy as well. After untying the sponge from the balloon, Lee lost hold of it and it flew away. He received 0 points.
Mike tied a weight to the balloon, but the balloon flew away. However, Mike was able to retrieve the balloon by jumping over the fence. He then went inside a phone booth where he completed the task. He took 8 minutes, receiving 4 points.
After trying to keep the balloon in place through various methods, like waving her hands over and under the balloon and later a leaf blower inside the shed, Sarah moved inside the house where she used static electricity by rubbing the balloon against her hair. She took 21 minutes and 18 seconds, receiving 3 points.
