Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Toy grabs a bucket of random items from the shed and just starts throwing things over the wall. He asks Nuno to tell him how close he is to the bin; Nuno says he is not authorised to do so. Toy throws a metal bucket, which he hears strike the bin, giving him some idea of where to keep throwing. Eventually, Toy manages to throw a tennis ball into the bin. Toy takes 3 minutes 42 seconds, and comes second.
  • Inês starts throwing tennis balls over the wall. At some point she realises the bin might be right up against the wall on the opposite site, and tips a few things over the fence to check. Inês does not alter her method; eventually, she is able to throw a rubber duck into the bin. Inês takes 5 minutes 41 seconds, and comes third.
  • Gilmário realises that he can use things that are not ladders to see over the fence. He climbs on top of the nearby shed, but seems to overlook the bin. He borrows Nuno’s phone and tapes it to a paddle, making a selfie stick, and sweeps the length of the wall while recording a video on the phone to figure out where the bin is. Gilmário starts to throw golf balls at the bin, hitting it a few times in a row, before finally throwing a ball into the bin. Gilmário takes 8 minutes 15 seconds, and comes fourth.
  • Jessica has Nuno define what a ladder is; he replies that it is “anything with steps”. Jessica stacks a table and chair, and climbs on top of her construction to peek over the wall. She also stands on her construction when she’s ready to begin throwing. Despite her insistence that she will not be able to hit the bin, Jessica’s first throw is the one that successfully ends the task. Jessica takes 3 minutes 29 seconds, and comes first.
  • Carla gets on the ground at a few spots near the fence to see if she can peek under. Despite Nuno’s insistence that it’s “a good wall”, apparently Carla is able to figure out where the bin is, because all of her throws come close to it. The editing is very kind to Carla, as Nuno reveals in the studio that Carla made a total of 149 throws: 56 clothes pegs, 19 rubber hearts, 23 rubber ducks, 31 tennis balls, 13 golf balls, 4 footballs, 1 basketball, 1 rubber chicken, and 1 roll of toilet paper. Carla takes 20 minutes 46 seconds and comes last.
