Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- Jessica looks over the provided items before picking up a piece of Taskmaster signage that was on the floor and starts waving it at the candle. After experimenting for a while with different distances and sign-waving styles, she gives up on that method. After briefly trying the vacuum cleaner (the hose of which she has for some inexplicable reason tied to the Taskmaster signage), Jessica moves on to trying to extinguish the candle with a water pistol. Finally, Jessica just walks up to the candle and blows it out from a distance of 19.3cm. Jessica earns fourth place.
- Inês decides to duct tape several long cardboard tubes together and places them between her and the candle before blowing in to one end. She immediately realises that it’s not going to work. Sticking with her pipe system, Inês uses a foot pump instead to provide air – after a few tries, Inês walks close to the candle and extinguishes it using the foot pump from a distance of 22.5cm. Inês earns third place.
- Toy moves the barrel of tubes close to the candle in order to create something sturdy that stands at the height of the flame. His first idea is to run a hosepipe as far from the candle as possible and move air through it via the foot pump, but upon testing he realises that the hose is too long to provide a strong enough gust of air. He moves on to experimenting with the vacuum cleaner, which he has placed just far enough away that it does not blow out the flame. While moving the hose closer, Toy’s time runs out – with the candle still lit. Toy earns fifth place.
- Gilmário realises that the candle does not necessarily have to be blown out, just that the flame needs to be extinguished. Looking at the items provided, he pulls out a bow and rubber plunger arrows, and begins firing shots at the candle, monologuing about how he doesn’t just want to extinguish the flame, but he wants it to be amazing. After several shots, he finally hits the candle, knocking it off of the table and extinguishing it from a distance of 9.67m. Gilmário wins the task.
- Jorge immediately picks up the bow and rubber plunger arrows, stating that he used to practice archery. After firing a few shots (and singing a song about Robin Hood), Jorge fires an arrow that travels close enough to the candle to extinguish the flame without touching the candle – from a distance of 7.48m. Jorge earns second place.
