Task brief

The task brief was attached to a rotary washing line out in the grounds of the Taskmaster house, near the caravan. The brief for the task is as follows:

Hang the washing out to dry.

You have two minutes to hang your washing, following which Paul will spin the washing line once.

Most remaining hung items wins.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

  • Next to the washing line was a basket of what appeared to be regular laundry, because there was a jacket on top.
  • Paul shared in the studio that there were 462 items in the basket to be hung, including gummy snakes, bananas, CDs, pens, and cans of beans (recognisable as the cans used in the 'Spill the beans' task in season 2, so they actually probably contained tomatoes).
  • Also seen in the footage were some playing cards and Duplo bricks.
  • Of course, no clothes pegs were provided with which these items might be hung.
  • In the 20 January 2023 episode of the Taskmaster: The People's Podcast, New Zealand task writer Sam Smith revealed that his mother had come up with the original idea for this task.

  • Josh managed to hang out 17 items, receiving 3 points.
