Task brief

The task brief is dropped down suddenly in front of the contestants' faces on a wire, while they are seated at the desk in the study. The brief for the task is as follows:

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Vidar apparently spent the full 45 minutes completing his attempt, which he begins by telling the story of 'Oddvar Bordeaux', who he says cut off his own hand in the house in 1833. He says that there are rumours that Oddvar's hand is still in the house, and then ventures down into the basement with a night-vision camera to investigate. He points out the bloodstains on the steps down into the basement, and then spots the hand itself 'crawling' across the basement floor. As it heads into a cupboard, he closes the door behind it, to trap it. However, he then hears the door opening again and, on looking down at the ground in front of him, spots more blood stains. He tries to leave the basement, but finds that the door out is locked. The video ends with him screaming, as he is presumably killed by Oddvar's disembodied hand. In the studio, when Bård admits that the film was actually a bit scary, Vidar points out that he is a trained actor. Bård awards him second place for his performance.
  • Leo starts his attempt by saying it's a difficult task for someone who doesn't believe in ghosts. As he stands up to go looking for inspiration, he bumps into the grandfather clock behind him, and purportedly startles himself, as it rocks slightly from side to side. Asking whether the cameramen had managed to document the incident, he decides to call it a day. Unsurprisingly, Bård awards him last place for his low-effort attempt.
  • Lars' video is like the lower-budget version of Vidar's, and features him venturing up into the attic with a camera to investigate ghosts. After saying he doesn't believe in ghosts, and revealing his plans, the head of a bird figurine behind him falls onto the ground, startling him. Up in the attic, he thinks he sees Olli disappearing behind a support, and then sees some books falling off a surface. Beginning to panic, he then films a chair falling over, and sliding towards him, followed by a rocking horse and a set of skis. He then claims to have been pulled towards the objects, and ends the video lying on the floor, apparently being attacked by them. In the studio, he admits that his film is not as good as Vidar's, suggesting that perhaps it was the pilot for Vidar's finished version. Bård awards him fourth place for his effort.
  • Hani claims to have documented an actual paranormal experience, while filming another task. Olli claims not to have much memory of the incident. In the film, Hani is seen finishing reading the end of a task brief in the lab, with a  bowl full of uninflated balloons in front of her. As she begins to solve the unspecified task, a hand is seen pressed against the plastic sheeting behind her, and she spins around, startled by the sound or by sensing a presence, but does not spot it. After returning to the task at hand, the lights flicker off for a moment, and Olli disappears from view. His face then appears, pressed against the plastic behind Hani, who says that she can feel something in her "whole body". As she turns round to look at where Olli should be standing, he suddenly reappears, holding his hands up as if about to grab something. When questioned about what he is doing, he claims not to know what she is talking about. Hani expresses that she thinks she is losing her mind, as two hands can again be seen pressing against the plastic behind her. She decides to quit the task and leave the lab, refusing to shake Olli's proffered hand, since she is so freaked out. As she exits the lab, Olli's head snaps into an unnatural position, and he stares at the camera, his face changing appearance, and making him resemble a zombie. In the studio, Bård says he feels something, but can't decide if it's fear or sadness. Olli suggests that it could be embarrassment, and Bård agrees. Hani insists that, if he had been there, he would have peed himself. Bård awards her third place.
  • Karin is given the opportunity to introduce her film, but ends up mainly stating that she thinks she's going to be embarrassed by it. Her film consists of highlights from a fixed-position night-vision camera, set up in the living room, where Olli can be seen sleeping on the sofa. The haunting begins with a flickering of a lamp by his feet, and then the rocking of a rocking horse by his side. The sheet under which he is sleeping is then seen being pulled off of him, before Karin herself is seen appearing from behind the sofa and crawling over his legs on all fours. In the final moments, she is seen apparently hanging from the ceiling above him, hissing, and then her face appears close up to the camera before it cuts off. Bård awards her first place for her film, which he admits was actually quite scary.
