The task brief is received on the dock, where it's balanced on top of a set of bowling pins, arranged in a triangle. The brief for the task is as follows:
Sink the bowling ball.
You cannot get wet.
The fastest wins.
Your time starts now.
Task notes
- In the middle of the pond, a bowling ball is balanced on top of a cylinder, in the middle of a floating wooden pallet, which is anchored to the bottom of the pond.
- Next to the dock, there is an inflated dinghy with two paddles.
- The contestants are not aware of it at the start of the task, but the bowling ball floats in the water (apparently all bowling balls under 12lbs in weight float, because their density is less than that of water).
- In judging the task, Tom Gleeson acknowledges that most of the contestants got at least a little but wet, but he decides to overlook that since they were otherwise following the spirit of the task by not jumping directly into the water while holding the ball.
