Task brief

The task brief is held by David, who is standing in a grassed common area near the Bäst i Test house. The brief for the task is as follows:

Throw a flavour into the dumpster.

You must be standing behind the rope.

You may not move the dumpster, the rope, or the table.

The person who throws the – in David’s opinion – worst flavour into the dumpster wins.

Your first hit in the dumpster is what counts.

You have 10 minutes.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

Next to David, there is a table upon which there are 10 small plates, each holding a small plastic bag full of mixed food.
There is also a ranked menu of ‘David’s favourite tastes’ on the table, which includes, in descending order of tastiness: hamburger and fries, huevos rancheros, tacos, marmalade sandwich, spaghetti with tomato sauce, sour milk and cornflakes, cheese plate, gorgonzola pizza, pea soup, and mixed raw fish.
Each bag of food has an obvious identifying tape marker on it, presumably to aid the production crew in knowing which is which. It’s uncertain if there was a sneaky way for the contestants to utilise these markers for their own benefit.
Next to the table, there are two stanchions connected with a red velvet rope, from behind which the contestants must make their throws.
Some distance away from the table, there is a small dumpster.
The task is introduced in the show by the pun name ‘kastronomi’ (with ‘kast’ meaning ‘throw’, and ‘gastronomi’ meaning ‘gastronomy’).
While there are obvious parallels between this and the ‘Identify the mystery flavours’ task (particularly the version involving doggy-bags full of mystery blended foods), it is categorised as original here, as success in this task is not dictated by successful identification of the most amount of flavours.
