The task brief is laid in the centre of an Advent candle stick, on a wooden serving trolley in an unknown small room of the Kongen Befaler house. The brief for the task is as follows:
Light all four candles on the Advent candlestick.
The task is over when all four candles are burning at the same time.

Task notes
- The contestants are provided with a box of matches.
- As soon as the contestants have read the task brief, Olli switches on a very powerful fan which is positioned on top of a chest-of-drawers and pointed directly at the candle. In the studio, Atle claims that this is merely “good air circulation” to prevent “potential asthmatics and COPD patients from being affected by the smoke”.
- Although it is not forbidden to leave the room where the task is assigned, a large standing lamp and an antique spinning wheel have been strategically placed next to the trolley, creating a barrier to deter the contestants from moving to another location to complete the task.
