In this live version of the task, the contestants must aim to be the fourth person to pop up out of their Christmas present box on stage. The person who pops up last earns last place, rather than being disqualified.

The brief for the task is as follows:
Come out of your Christmas present by standing up with stretched arms, yelling ‘Merry Christmas!’ as loud as you can.
The one who comes out second-to-last wins.
The one who comes out last will end up in last place.
The time starts on David’s signal.
Task notes
- The contestants are lined up side-by-side on the stage, each standing behind box which is large enough to sit on a chair within. The boxes are decorated to resemble Christmas presents, and have thin paper covering their tops, making it easy to burst through.
- Once they’ve entered their boxes, the contestants put on a pair of headphones which is playing music, to help prevent them hearing the other contestants or the audience.
