Task briefs

The first task brief is laid on top of an audio cassette recorder on the desk in the study. The second task brief is divided in audio form across multiple cassette tapes, but is also recorded on a CD. The briefs for the task are as follows:

Task notes

Also on the desk, there are a clipboard with paper, a marker pen, and 10 audio cassettes – one of which is found inside the task brief – each of which has a picture of a different fish on the front of its box.
There are also three audio cassette players on the desk, and several more scattered around the room, which the contestants may use to play the tapes.
Each correctly selected tape tells the contestants which tape they should play next, by referring to the fish depicted on its cover.
If the contestant’s knowledge of fish is poor, they have the option of retrieving the fish poster from Mark’s house to help (the fish are actually direct copies of the fish from the poster).
If the contestants start playing all of the correct tapes at the correct times, then the actual task brief is revealed, as parts of it are recorded across four different tapes, and are timed to play in the correct sequence.
One of the tapes plays the entirety of the Taskmaster theme tune, followed by audio of Mark clearing his throat, before reminding himself to record clues for the task onto a CD.
One of the audio cassette players also has a built-in CD player, containing a CD which has the full task brief recorded on it.
The remaining tapes include irrelevant audio, including: Jacob Taarnhøj’s festive song about a Tuscany dromedary from season 2, Tobias Rahim’s emerald anniversary song for Inge and Steffen from season 5, and Jesper Ole’s proposal song to Mark from season 7.
It is not revealed what is on the other tapes, but based on some of the notes taken by Mette Søndergaard during her attempt, they include audio of Linda P and Simon Talbot (her note about one tape being the voice of Thomas Warberg is actually her misidentifying Mark’s voice on the tape regarding the CD clue).
