In this version of the task, the items the contestants must balance on the thin shelves are small conical-shaped wooden blocks resembling board game pieces, rather than golf tees.

Task briefs

The first task brief is laid on the desk in the study. The follow-up task brief is laid on the table in the lab. The briefs for the task are as follows:

Do what you want with these switches for the next five minutes.

You will then complete a task in the lab.

The circumstances will change depending on the position of the switches.

Your time starts when you’ve understood the task.

Balance the most blocks on the shelves.

You must remain standing on the platform throughout the entire task.

You have five minutes.

The most blocks on the shelves, when the time is up, wins.

Task notes

Also on the desk in the study, there is a wooden board, upon which six old-fashioned switches have been mounted. One of the switches is covered with a red box, featuring a ‘do not touch’ sign).
Tucked into the task brief, there are six slips of paper, each featuring a word which describes what the effect of one of the switches will be, in the lab: ‘Luft’ (air), ‘Røg’ (smoke), ‘Bobler’ (bubbles), ‘Lys’ (light), ‘Vibration’, and ‘Fare’ (danger).
From left to right (from the contestants’ perspective when sat at the table) the effect of each switch is as follows:
1. The electric fan on the table turns on or off (air).
2. A smoke machine in front of the table turns on or off (smoke).
3. A bubble machine in front of the table turns on or off (bubbles).
4. All of the lights in the lab turn on or off (light).
5. The vibrating platform on which the contestants are standing turns on or off (vibration).
6. A sign on the front of the desk in the study lights up, displaying the text ‘Diskvalificeret!’ (Disqualified!), and the contestant is automatically disqualified from the task (danger).
