Attempts
Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- Steinar opens the sealed end of the tube, and collects the caviar up inside a plastic bag. He then pipes it back into the tube through a small hole in the bag. After doing so, he realises that he could have just pushed the bag itself directly inside the tube, rather than squeezing the caviar back out of it. At the end of his attempt, he re-seals the end of the tube. Steinar managed to get 260g of caviar back into the tube, and wins first place.
- When reading out the task, Einar deliberately reads the word ‘tube’ as ‘tub’, and then proceeds to take the caviar and its tube to the bathtub. To be safe, he also attempts to complete the task as intended. He cuts along the side of the tube to make a large opening, and uses his fingers to transfer the caviar back into the tube, cutting himself in the process. He manages to get 254g of caviar back into the tube, but protests that whatever they didn’t measure was still in the ‘tub’. Atle refuses to acknowledge the extra caviar, and Einar earns second place.
- Solveig makes a paper cone out of the task brief, to put the caviar through. Initially, she is unsure how to handle the caviar to transfer it into the cone from the plate, but eventually opts to use her hand to scoop it into the cone and through to the tube. She manages to return 199g of caviar back into the tube, and places last.
- Ida cuts a hole in the sealed end of the tube with a knife. After managing to return the majority of the caviar back into the tube, she uses the knife to scrape up any remnants and scrape it into the tube, fearing that someone else might return just 0.1 grams more than her. She earns third place with 253g, losing second place by just one gram, to her annoyance.
- Amir uses his mouth to move the caviar from the plate and put it back through the nozzle of the tube. He pretends to play the tube like a recorder, while holding it to his mouth. He earns fourth place, having successfully returned 226g of caviar to the tube.
