Task brief

The task brief is received outside the caravan, where Olli is seated in a garden chair. The brief for the task is as follows:

Make Olli take the longest time to get from A to B.

You may not destroy, move, or touch the letters, or Olli.

Olli begins his hike in 30 minutes.

Task notes

  • Behind the contestant is a two metre tall capital letter A, marking the starting point of Olli's journey.
  • A large capital letter B can be seen on a balcony of the Taskmaster house, marking the end point of his journey.

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Kristoffer first enters the house through the back door, and locks it behind himself, assuming that Olli will not have the key (an assumption that quickly proves to be incorrect). He then moves the white paper arrows which mark the route Olli will be taking between A and B, hoping that he will blindly follow them in the wrong direction. However, Olli's free will becomes apparent, as he pursues his original intended path, ignoring the arrows. Olli quickly climbs over the barricade that Kristoffer has erected at the foot of the stairs using furniture, and reaches the B on the balcony unhindered after just 1 minute and 14 seconds. Kristoffer places fourth in the task.
  • It takes Henriette some time to spot the two metre tall letters A and B referred to in the task. She somehow manages to spot the B, up on the balcony, before the A she is standing right next to. She decides she is going to try to handicap Olli by blindfolding him, and making him drag two tyres around with him. However, she does not factor in his free will to remove the blindfold and drop the rope tied to the tyres, and he marches off towards the house unhindered, reaching the B on the balcony in just a minute. Henriette places last in the task.
  • Martha pulls the mailbox out of the ground and lays it across the entrance to the low fence around the caravan as a somewhat ineffective barrier. She then enters the house through the back door and locks it behind herself, before placing obstacles in front of every doorway in an effort to slow Olli down. She also uses parcel tape to loosely secure the sliding interior doors, and to create a sticky web to block his approach to the stairs. She also sets up a garden hose, taping it to the top of a table tipped on edge, pointing down the steps that Olli will be using to enter the back of the house. However, she forgets to actually turn on the water before he begins, so he is easily able to get past the obstacle. As Olli sets off on his walk, she flings balls at him as a distraction, which appears pretty ineffective. Olli uses a thin decorative metal candleholder to break the tape holding the sliding doors closed from the other side, and continues on his journey, ducking under the parcel tape web and reaching the B on the balcony after 3 minutes and 29 seconds. Martha places third in the task.
  • It also takes Live quite some time to spot the two metre tall letters A and B referred to in the task, despite standing right next to one of them. Live enters the house and uses nails and screws to secure a piece of wooden particle board to the inside of a pair of internal sliding doors through which Olli's path will take him, preventing them from being easily opened from the other side. She then grabs a pole which she explains she is going to pretend to use to fence against Olli for a bit, before using it to jam the back door closed from the outside, once he realises he is trapped behind the sliding doors. This proves to be effective for a while, until he finds an antique-looking metal clock and barometer, and uses the point of that as a thin hammer to dislodge the wooden board from the other side of the doors. He is then unimpeded on the rest of his journey, reaching the B on the balcony after 4 minutes and 20 seconds. Live places second in the task.
  • Espen immediately fetches his dog's leash from his car, and puts it onto Olli's neck. Recognising that Olli has free will, he also zipties his hands behind his back, so that he cannot remove it himself. He initially tries to restrain Olli on the leash by hand, but then leashes him to a metal pillar (possibly a flagpole?) in the garden, keeping him restrained for a total of 45 minutes before letting him loose to complete his walk to the B on the balcony. Espen wins the task.
