Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Land a balloon nearest the Taskmaster.

You must stay on your spots at all times.

The closest balloon to the Taskmaster wins but, if you strike the Taskmaster with a balloon, you're disqualified.

Task notes

  • The contestants are lined up on stage, each wearing a skirt, from the waistband of which are hung a variety of long, inflated balloons.
  • Greg is seated upon his throne, on top of a turntable, in front of the stage.
  • Three rounds are played, with just one balloon released by each contestant in the first round, and two released by each in the final round.

Attempts

Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!

  • Dara's first balloon barely made it off the stage. His second balloon went into the audience, and one of his pair of balloons released in the third round landed directly next to Greg's foot. He therefore won the task.
  • Fern's first balloon landed next to Greg's throne, but her second balloon struck Greg on the knee, so she was disqualified.
  • John's first balloon ended up hanging from a piece of the stage set. His second balloon went straight off the stage, and his balloons released during the third round also fell short. He earned fourth place in the task, thanks to Fern's disqualification.
  • Munya's first balloon was the third closest balloon to Greg. His second balloon got closer to the throne, and both the balloons released in the third round landed on opposite sides of the stage. As his closest balloon was the second closest, he earned second place.
  • Sarah's first balloon was the second closest balloon. Her second balloon got slightly closer, but both the balloons released in the third round landed on the stage. As her closest balloon was the third closest balloon, she earned third place.
