Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Throw the pike and knock over as many of the other contestant’ pins as possible.

If you knock over your own pin or the Taskmaster’s pin, your score is zero.

Best score wins.

Task notes

  • The contestants are stood behind an armchair on the stage, and a set of wooden pins has been arranged a short distance away.
  • This task is an adaptation of a common modern outdoor Finnish game called ‘mölkky’, albeit with fewer pins, and the throwing pin has been replaced with a pillow resembling a pike fish.

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Images will be added later.

  • In the first round, Pirjo’s first throw lands short of the pins, and her second throw knocks over Eija’s pin. In the second and final round, Pirjo knocks over Eija and Kalle’s pins, as well as the Taskmaster’s, therefore knocking her score down to zero. However, since she still managed to pass the first round, she earns joint fourth place.
  • In the first round, Fathi’s first throw lands just to the right of all of the pins. Annoyed at his performance, Fathi is more violent with his second throw, and completely misses all of the pins. He therefore ends with a score of zero, and does not make it through to the final round. He earns no points from the task.
  • In the first round, Eija’s first throw knocks over both Kalle and Helmi-Leena’s pins. Her second throw then knocks over her own pin, knocking her score down to zero. She therefore does not make it through to the final round, and earns no points from the task.
  • In the first round, Helmi-Leena’s first throw knocks over Pirjo’s pin, butt her second throw misses all of the pins. In the second and final round, her throw is a bit too high, and goes over and beyond all the pins. However, since she still managed to make it into the final round, she earns joint fourth place.
  • In the first round, Kalle’s first throw knocks over both Pirjo and Fathi’s pins. After realising that no-one else has scored two points, Kalle deliberately fails his second throw by dropping the pike, to ensure he doesn’t accidentally eliminate himself. In the second final round, he knocks over Pirjo and Fathi’s pins, and ends up winning the task.
