Task briefs

The task brief is found on the steering wheel of a golf cart in a park near the house. The briefs for the task are as follows:

Drive exactly 11 laps around the track.

You may never leave or step off the golf cart.

Every lap, one new rule is added.

Rule 1: The golf cart must constantly be in motion, travelling at a speed of below 8km per hour.

Every time a rule is broken, 100 seconds will be added to your total time.

Fastest wins.

Your time starts when David drops the flag.

Rule 2: Everyone in the cart must swap at least one shoe during every lap.

Rule 3: You must wear sunglasses during odd laps, but not during even laps.

Rule 4: Find a bell pepper before you reach the finish line.

Rule 5: Transport the milk without spilling it.

Rule 6: Yell ‘This is fun!’ exactly once a minute during each remaining lap.

Rule 7: Bring David along for a guided tour.

Rule 8: No-one is allowed to speak except for the tour guide.

Rule 9: Make David a decadent sandwich during each remaining lap.

Rule 10: The person driving the golf cart must have a mouthful of milk for the majority of the lap.

Rule 11: Reach the finish line, and celebrate vigorously if you think you won.

Task notes

  • A course gas been marked out on the grass in the park area near the house using red and white striped caution tape and stakes.
  • Next to the golf cart, but the other side of the caution tape, David is stood next to a plinth and a wooden crate, holding a chequered flag. Throughout the task, he presents the contestants with additional task briefs containing the new rules, and any necessary associated props, from this position.
  • Rule 4 appears to be inspired by Kongen Befaler’s ‘Find the bell pepper’ task, since the contestants are provided with a variety of chilli peppers as red herrings, while the bell pepper is actually duct-taped to the back of the golf cart they are all travelling in.
  • Rules 7 and 8 are not disclosed in the edits of the teams’ attempts at this task, but were shared with us by a member of the production team.
