Task briefs

The briefs for the task are as follows:

Solve the seven tasks.

Once you touch a task brief, you must complete it before you can open the next one.

Fastest to solve all seven tasks wins.

Your time starts now.

Assemble the jigsaw puzzle.

Build a tower of bricks.

The tower must be more than one and a half meters tall, and remain standing during the rest of the task.

Should the tower topple over, you have to start over again from the first task.

Hide all the jigsaw puzzle pieces around the garden.

Throw the exercise ball so that it knocks over at least one bowling pin.

You must throw the ball from behind the red rope.

Put the wheelbarrow into Mark's house.

The wheelbarrow should stay there for the rest of the task.

Put 20 things in the wheelbarrow that are bigger than a tennis ball.

If they spill out at any point, you must starts over from the first task.

Place one hand on your hip.

You must keep it there throughout the task.

If your hand leaves your hip, you must start over again from the first task.

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Anders completes the puzzle, then hides the puzzle, then knocks over a bowling pin with the bowling ball, then puts the wheelbarrow in the shed, then builds a brick tower, then fills the wheelbarrow with small items , and then finally places his hand on his hip. When Anders needs to hide the puzzle pieces, he puts all of the pieces back into the box and just hides the box, which would be helpful if he needed to quickly retrieve them. He gets a strike during the bowling part of the task. Unfortunately, Anders builds his brick tower on a slightly sloped part of the grass, and it topples over. On his second tower attempt, he turns over the bathtub (presumably for a more solid building base, but it’s still at a bit of a slope) and successfully builds a tower, making Mark measure the height before moving on. Anders fills the wheelbarrow with items from Mark’s playhouse. At the end of the tasks, Anders karate kicks his brick tower down. Anders finishes all seven tasks in 31 minutes 55 seconds and comes fourth.
  • Jakob builds a brick tower, then completes the puzzle, then puts the wheelbarrow in the shed, then fills the wheelbarrow with small items, then hides the puzzle, then knocks over a bowling pin with the bowling ball, and then finally places his hand on his hip. Jakob moves the red green where the tower must be built onto the porch (instead of leaving it on the grass), then builds his tower on the porch. He also has Mark measure the tower before moving on to the next task. Jakob primarily uses the leftover bricks from his tower to fill the wheelbarrow. Jakob throws the puzzle pieces around the yard while hiding them, which definitely would cost him time if he needed to redo the task. Jakob finishes all seven tasks in 23 minutes 34 seconds and comes second.
  • Mahamad places his hand on his hip, then completes the puzzle, then hides the puzzle, then puts the wheelbarrow in the shed, then builds a brick tower, then knocks over a bowling pin with the bowling ball, and then finally fills the wheelbarrow with small items. Mahamad puts his dominant hand on his hip, which he immediately regrets. It’s unclear why – especially since it was the first task – he didn’t just switch hands, especially because he spends a good amount of his task time complaining that he now has to do everything left-handed, and berating himself for putting his right hand on his hip. Mahamad also is not very good at puzzles – he loses a lot of time putting together the puzzle of Lasse’s face (Mark later reveals it took Mahamad nearly 15 minutes to put the puzzle together). Luckily, Mahamad’s bowling attempt does not disturb his tower. Mahamad fills the tub with items (presumably from the shed) and uses a cart to wheel them all down to Mark’s playhouse so he can fill the wheelbarrow. At the end of his tasks, Mahamad karate kicks his tower down. Mahamad finishes all seven tasks in 31 minutes 41 seconds and comes third.
  • Annika places her hand on her hip, then builds a brick tower, then puts the wheelbarrow in the shed, then fills the wheelbarrow with small items, then completes the puzzle, then hides the puzzle, and then finally knocks over a bowling pin with the bowling ball. While building the tower, Annika realises midway through that the tower will likely fall, so she carefully moves it to a flatter part of the grass; the tower falls anyway while Mark is measuring it. After successfully building a tower, she accidentally takes her hand off of her hip and has to start over. This does give her the opportunity to build a sturdier tower by using more bricks at the base (Mark later reveals that the time taken to get to this tower was 25 minutes). Annika fills the wheelbarrow with items from Mark’s playhouse. Annika realises that while the bowling task dictates where the contestant must stand, it does not state where the bowling pin should be; Annika takes one of the bowling pins and places it next to the bowling line, easily knocking it over with the yoga ball and keeping her brick tower out of danger. Annika finishes all seven tasks in 34 minutes 46 seconds and comes last.
  • Neel completes the puzzle, then places her hand on her hip, then builds a brick tower, then knocks over a bowling pin with the bowling ball, then fills the wheelbarrow with small items, then puts the wheelbarrow in the shed, and then finally hides the puzzle. When Neel builds the tower, she builds with the bricks at opposing angles (making sort of V-shapes) to help keep it sturdy on the grassy surface. She also has Mark measure its height before moving on. Neel realises she can move the bowling pins, so moves them closer to the patio, but also protects her tower by placing the bathtub and the wheelbarrow between it and the pins. Neel primarily uses the leftover bricks to fill the wheelbarrow. When it comes time to move the wheelbarrow, Neel instead wonders aloud if Mark would be the ideal person to play her love interest – or even play Santa - in the new Tinka film. Mark asks if she’s stalling because she needs help moving the wheelbarrow, and he moves the wheelbarrow into the playhouse for her. Neel puts a lot of effort into really hiding the puzzle pieces; thankfully, it’s her last task, as recovering the pieces would have taken quite some time. Neel finishes all seven tasks in 22 minutes 7 seconds and wins the task.
