Task briefs

One member of each team finds their task brief in the study, leant against the typewriter. The other member of the team receives their task brief in the caravan. The briefs for the task are as follows:

To Marko and Nikki:

Solve the riddle.

Stay in your rooms.

Fastest wins.

Your time starts now.

To Henrik and Linnéa:

Solve the riddle.

Stay in your rooms.

Fastest wins.

If you can get your teammate to say 'rainbow', you both get a bonus point.

You must never say 'rainbow' yourself.

If your teammate questions your behaviour around the word 'rainbow', you both lose a point.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

  • Each contestant is provided with a walkie-talkie, so that they may communicate, but the one in the study is hidden inside a box.
  • The contestant in the caravan has another envelope in front of them, with a message on the outside stating that it may not be opened until someone looks like Charlie Chaplin.
  • A bowler hat and set of fake moustaches are provided for the other contestant in the study.
  • Once the second envelope in the caravan is opened, it shows a plan of the study, with an 'X' marking the location of a dish by the window.
  • Half of a jigsaw puzzle is hidden inside this dish, while the other half is on the table in the caravan.
  • The contestant in the study has a cipher that must be decoded, in order to find out what the actual riddle to be solved is.
  • The key to the cipher is split in half, and may be found on the backs of both halves of the jigsaw puzzles, once solved.
  • Once decoded, the riddle they are trying to solve is “Babben and David are 106 years old. Babben is 100 years older than David. How old is David?”.
  • The answer to the riddle is 3 (103 + 3 = 106).

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • While Marko searches around the study trying to find the riddle, Linnéa sees the envelope that can only be opened when someone looks like Charlie Chaplin. She then proceeds to draw a moustache on her face, trying to remember what Charlie Chaplin looks like. She then starts to put the puzzle together. Meanwhile, Marko stumbles across the Charlie Chaplin hat and moustache, but does not put them on. He eventually finds the walkie-talkie hidden on the chess board and calls to Linnéa. She tells him about her unopened envelope, and he dons the hat and moustache. Linnéa tells Marko that her envelope contains a map with an X, that appears to be either under a painting or a window. The first thing Marko searches is a decorative urn next to him, where he finds puzzle pieces. Both teammates finish putting their puzzle halves together, though Marko has some difficulty with it. Eventually, Marko is able to give his part of the code to Linnéa, and has some fun annoying her via the walkie-talkie while she deciphers the letter. Linnéa solves the riddle, then turns her attention to the bonus point. She tells Marko not to question her as to why, but to tell her what “is colourful, and happens when it has rained but is now sunny.” Marko says “rainbow.” Marko and Linnéa correctly solve the riddle in 35 minutes 59 seconds, and win the task.
  • Henrik immediately speaks into the walkie-talkie, and Nikki quickly finds the walkie-talkie hidden on the chess board. However, either Nikki’s part of the walkie-talkie is malfunctioning, or she doesn’t know how to use a walkie-talkie, as every time she says something to Henrik, the things he hears from her are either broken up or static-y. Henrik begins by telling Nikki that there is a word he is not allowed to say, but she needs to. Nikki immediately responds with “orange”. Henrik asks Nikki what is on the flag during Pride, and Nikki replies “rainbow”, then asks if that was all (presumably she thinks that was the riddle). Henrik tells her that one of them needs to look like Charlie Chaplin, and that he doesn’t have anything where he is that can accomplish that. Nikki immediately locates the hat and moustache, and puts them on. She also finds her puzzle pieces very soon after she is told about the map with the X on it. The two put their puzzles together, but have trouble conveying the code to each other. Eventually, they are able to translate the riddle, but fall into the riddle’s trap and say that the answer is 6. Henrik and Nikki incorrectly solve the riddle in 35 minutes 13 seconds, so even though they were faster than the other team, they lose the task.

Notes on task scores

  • Henrik, Linnéa, Marki and Nikki all receive a bonus point because Henrik and Linnéa both succeed at getting their team-mates to say "rainbow".
  • Normally on Bäst i Test, only 3 points are available to the winners of team tasks, and to the guest contestant who correctly predicts their win.
  • However, since the bonus point was also secured by the winning team in this task, Måns also earns a total of 4 points for correctly predicting the winners.
