Task brief

The task brief is laid on the table in the lab. The brief for the task is as follows:

Gourmandise one of these five delicacies.

The person who consumes the delicacy consumed by the minutest amount of other contestants wins.

You must consume your chosen delicacy in its entirety.

You have 60 minutes.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

  • Also on the table, there are: an uncooked potato; a wrapped chocolate; a tin of cat food; a chili pepper; and a durian fruit.
  • Durian fruits are infamously one of the most foul-smelling fruits in the world.
  • Although an entire durian fruit is present, the contestants are only required to eat a piece of it which has been provided in an air-tight jar, next to the fruit.
  • In the studio, David initially clarifies that if a contestant eats the same thing as another contestant, neither of them earn any points. However, this rule is not applied when the contestants’ attempts are scored.
  • The task brief is intentionally written with unnecessarily grandiose words, to fit the theme of the task.
  • Although the very generous time limit of one hour gives contestants more than enough time to cook the potato, no-one appears to consider this as a solution.
