Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Write an anonymous and mediocre poem for Babben.

The height of mediocrity, meaning the third best, wins.

You have 100 seconds to write your poem.

Your time starts on David’s signal.

Task notes

  • This task takes place during the ‘Middle of the Show’ segment, as a game titled ‘Medioker Dikt’ (Mediocre Poem).
  • The contestants must compose their poems on old typewriters, and are provided with ear defenders, purportedly to protect their hearing from all the noise created by the devices.
  • Famed Swedish theatre actor Marie Göranzon is brought on stage to bring some gravitas to the reading of the contestants’ mediocre poems.
  • This task appears to be a hybrid of two Taskmaster NZ tasks. The anonymous poem aspect is clearly based on the ‘Write the Taskmaster an anonymous poem’ task, although the jeopardy of losing your points if the Taskmaster identifies you, in this version, is eliminated (in fact, Babben doesn’t even seem to make any attempt to identify the poems’ authors). The additional goal of creating the most mediocre poem appears to be based on the ‘Sculpt the third most impressive dog’ task.
