Task brief
The task brief is laid on top of 140 apparently identical tin cans, arranged in a grid on top of a glass table in the lab. The brief for the task is as follows:
Spill the beans.
Fastest person to spill the beans wins.
You have 10 minutes.
Your time starts now.
Task notes
- The task brief is leant against a non-crank manual can-opener.
- The bottoms of some of the cans have been painted so that they form an arrow, pointing to the can containing the beans (the bottom of which is painted in a different colour), if viewed through the glass table from below.
- The labels on all of the cans are identical, so no clue to the correct can is provided by any minor variation in the design (like in the original version of the task). However, the expiration date stamped on the top of all the tomato cans is 2025, while the beans and chickpeas all have an expiration date in 2024. This presumably unintentional clue to the different contents of the cans is taken advantage of by at least one of the contestants.
