Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Circle the chairs and listen to the story the Taskmaster reads out.

Sit down when you hear a word with two consecutive ‘L’s.

If you stop or touch a chair at the wrong time, you will be eliminated.

If you don’t sit down when you hear the right word, you will be eliminated.

Best listener wins.

Task notes

  • The contestants are lined up side-by-side on stage, in front of a row of four chairs, which are facing in alternating directions.
  • Jaakko reads one continuous story throughout this task, stopping as needed, and announcing the new rule for each round, as each contestant is eliminated.
  • In the second round, the contestants must attempt to sit down when they hear a word beginning with ‘P’ and ending with ‘S’.
  • In the third round, the contestants must attempt to sit down when they hear a word containing ‘kai’.
  • A rule is not given for the fourth and final round, so either the rule for the third round was re-used, or the end of the story itself was the cue for the contestants to sit down.
  • With each elimination, one of the chairs is removed, so there is always one less chair than there are people playing.
