Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Circle the chairs and listen to the story the Taskmaster reads out.

Sit down when you hear a word with two consecutive ‘L’s.

If you stop or touch a chair at the wrong time, you will be eliminated.

If you don’t sit down when you hear the right word, you will be eliminated.

Best listener wins.

Task notes

The contestants are lined up side-by-side on stage, in front of a row of four chairs, which are facing in alternating directions.
Jaakko reads one continuous story throughout this task, stopping as needed, and announcing the new rule for each round, as each contestant is eliminated.
In the second round, the contestants must attempt to sit down when they hear a word beginning with ‘P’ and ending with ‘S’.
In the third round, the contestants must attempt to sit down when they hear a word containing ‘kai’.
A rule is not given for the fourth and final round, so either the rule for the third round was re-used, or the end of the story itself was the cue for the contestants to sit down.
With each elimination, one of the chairs is removed, so there is always one less chair than there are people playing.
