Balance the Taskmaster’s assistant on a see-saw

Mastertask notes:

In this version of the task, Olli is sat on the see-saw throughout the contestant’s attempt, but the see-saw is locked in a horizontal position until the contestants utter the phrase ‘release the spirit level’. They then immediately get to see how accurate their estimate of Olli’s weight was. There is no container on the other end of the see-saw for them to load up with items – they must balance or attach all of their weight on the beam of the see-saw itself. Also, the task is judged based on the length of time it takes between the contestants uttering the key phrase and when one of the balloons fastened beneath each end of the see-saw bursts.

Task brief

The task brief is laid on top of a see-saw device in the garden. The brief for the task is as follows:

This is a voice-activated spirit level.

Add weight so Olli stays level when you say ‘release the spirit level’.

Most level Olli within 10 minutes wins.

Task notes

The see-saw has been built to resemble a giant spirit level.
It is initially locked in a horizontal position, with Olli sat astride one end of it.
When the contestants utter the phrase defined in the task brief, the locking mechanism for the see-saw disengages so that it can pivot.
Beneath each end of the device, an inflated red balloon has been attached to the stand supporting it, so that when either end of the see-saw drops low enough, the balloon will burst.
The task is judged based on the length of time it takes between the contestants uttering the key phrase and when one of the balloons bursts.
