Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Defeat the other team at human war boats.

Remaining in your field at all times, project your ballistic cushion over the wall to hit the members of the other team.

The other team must lay flat and still in their field.

When hit, the player must yell 'You've sunk me!' and vacate the field.

The team that clears the opponents' field in the fewest shots wins.

Your time starts on Paul's whistle.

Task notes

  • The contestants are lined up at the front of the stage to hear the task brief.
  • Behind them, the stage has a large box marked out in red tape, which is divided in half with a tall red curtain.
  • On either end of the box, there are six square yellow cushions laid out on the stage.
  • 'War boats' is clearly an off-brand-style reference to the classic board game 'Battleships', which the game played in this task strongly resembles.
  • To make the teams the same size, Chris Parker's 'best friend' dummy, Sacky, becomes the third player on his team.
  • The audience clearly really enjoyed getting involved in this task, misleading the contestants into thinking they have only narrowly missed their throws, with 'oooh's and 'aaah's.

Attempts

Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!

  • Chris and Paul struggled to locate the other team whilst throwing cushions, being teased by the audience. They then lay down on the edge of the field. They hit all of the other team after 23 attempts, receiving 2 points each.
  • Josh, Justine and Kura lay on top of each other and used the audience to confuse Chris and Paul. They then managed to find Chris fast but struggled to locate Paul and Sacky. They hit all of the other team after 16 attempts, receiving 3 points each.
