Task brief

The task brief is received at the top of the steps in the garden of the Kongen Befaler house, where the task brief is attached to a plinth, upon which a raw egg rests in an eggcup. The brief for the task is as follows:

Throw this egg the farthest.

The egg must be whole when the task is over.

The distance is measured horizontally.

The longest valid throw counts.

You have 20 minutes.

The task starts now.

Ready, set, eggo.

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Live finds a mattress in the shed, which she aims to use at the landing pad for the egg. She lays it on the lawn, and throws the egg at it from the edge of the garden. Though she misses the mattress by some distance, the egg miraculously survives its impact on the lawn. However, Olli then reveals in studio that she foolishly had another attempt at her throw afterwards, and the egg was not so lucky, apparently smashing on a tree branch while in the air, and invalidating her successful first throw. She therefore earns zero points.
  • Henriette decides that the best way to protect her egg is to boil it, which she does in a kettle, along with a couple of practice eggs. She positions a small wagon on the driveway, and asks Olli to hold a bag to catch the egg in. However, Olli barely makes any effort at all to move the bag, and all of her throws fall short of - or to the side of - Olli's position, and smash on the driveway, the boiling not having actually provided any structural protection. She therefore earns zero points.
  • Martha finds a mattress in the shed, which she aims to use at the landing pad for the egg. She lays it across the driveway, and then wraps the egg in a cushion with duct tape. Although her throw falls short of the mattress and hits the driveway quite hard, the egg survives the impact. With her successful 17m throw, she earns first place in the task.
  • Kristoffer attempts to use scale to his advantage, by throwing the egg over a globe and into a hat, and claiming that it had travelled 11,495km. While at first it seems that Atle is going to allow this argument, he is only actually approving the distance travelled in reality by the egg, between Kristoffer's hand and the hat, which was 47cm. Despite this short distance, he still earns second place, as three other contestants manage to eliminate themselves.
  • Espen manages to knock the egg off the plinth while removing the task brief, so doesn't even have a chance to learn what the task is before he is eliminated. He therefore earns zero points.
