Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Convince the Taskmaster that you deserve 5 points.

You must use a method from one of the paddles.

When you are finished convincing, place your paddle in the paddling pool.

The least convincing contestant in each round is eliminated.

You will have 10 seconds each, per round.

The last player standing wins.

Task notes

  • The contestants are lined up at the back of the stage.
  • Tom Cashman stands to the left of the stage, next to a large black board, and a circular red paddling pool (within which there is, of course, a rubber duck).
  • Hanging on the board are 14 large circular paddles, each of which has a method of appeal written upon it, including: "Desperately beg"; "In song"; "In a foreign language"; "Casually mention"; "Seductively"; "Passionately plea using words starting with P"; "Puppy dog eyes"; "Degrade yourself"; "In character as the Taskmaster's wife"; Silently suggest"; "Politely ask"; "Firmly demand"; "Cool calm and collected"; and "Making a promise you must then keep".
