Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Images will be added later.

  • Kalle immediately takes a ‘before’ photograph of himself standing and staring into the camera, unsmiling. He then heads to the shed for costume items, finding a cowboy hat, and vest which he deems too small, but dons anyways, idly wondering if he'll need to go shirtless for another task (in reference to his karaoke video from episode 5). Kalle then finds a jar of children’s play slime, and is inspired to use it to create a “flu-stricken cowboy” by draping the slime over his face. Kalle’s ‘after’ picture is taken in the same room as the ‘before’ picture, with the addition of the cowboy vest (worn backwards), a large black cowboy hat, and a large amount of children’s play slime spread over his face. In the studio, Kalle claims that his ‘after’ picture depicts a young cowboy who was unfortunate enough to realise that he was allergic to horses. Jaakko awards Kalle third place.
  • Eija immediately takes a ‘before’ photograph of herself standing and smiling at the camera. As she searches the shed for costume items, Eija wonders if there is a way to make her face unrecognisable. After gathering some assorted costume items from the shed, Eija returns to the side room for her ‘after’ picture. She dresses in a fuzzy yellow jacket, yellow straw hat, and overalls, and wraps a furry yellow stole around her face, to hide her identity. Jaakko awards Eija joint second place.
  • Linda is the only contestant who does not immediately take a ‘before’ photograph. Instead, she goes directly to the shed in search of props. She is pleased by a toy crown and a pair of angel wings she finds, and quickly puts them on. After draping a long piece of silver fabric around her body as a skirt, and wrapping several layers of colourful wooden beads around her neck, Linda returns to Pilvi and declares that she’s ready to take her ‘before’ picture. This is taken on the side porch of the mansion, amongst some flowers, so that she looks more “pure”. Linda then returns to the shed for more costume items for her ‘after’ picture, donning a different crown, and swapping her silver skirt for a blue one. She also lets her hair down and messes it up, furthering the effect by wetting it in the bathroom sink. Linda’s ‘after’ picture is taken in the bathroom, with her sitting on the toilet in her new outfit. Linda seems to have gone for a ‘hungover’ look - her hair is wet, and she’s using her fingers to pull her cheeks down and away from her face. She has also chosen not to frame her ‘after’ picture, instead sitting in the frame and balancing it on her knees. Jaakko awards Linda first place.
  • Fathi immediately takes a ‘before’ photograph of himself while lying on the table, with the picture taken from above. He then runs from the mansion to a nearby production trailer, where he asks a woman named Mira if he can use her make-up. With Mira’s assistance, Fathi uses make-up to give himself a bright red face. With the addition of a headscarf, a new shirt, and some long orange gloves, Fathi then heads back to the mansion to take his ‘after’ photo. In the studio, Fathi claims that his ‘after’ photo is of the creature that shot the slime onto Kalle’s face. Jaakko awards Fathi joint second place.
  • Pirjo immediately takes a ‘before’ photograph of herself, standing near a window and smiling at the camera. She then searches the kitchen for inspiration, eventually finding a bag of cereal, and wondering if it could be used to create a “brown pimple disease” look. Pirjo puts on a garbage bag to protect her clothing, and mixes some ingredients in a small dish to create a thick paste, which she begins applying to her face. With the paste applied, Pirjo then presses pieces of the brown cereal into it, to complete her “brown pimple disease” look. For her ‘after’ photo, Pirjo for some reason decides to partially remove the garbage bag, keeping it hung around her neck instead of covering her body. As a result, her ‘after’ photo looks more similar to her ‘before’ photo than it would have it she’d kept it on completely. In the studio, Pirjo claims that her two pictures are actually an advertisement – that the ‘before’ picture is the result of using a revolutionary skin product that can clear the unfortunate skin condition presented in the ‘after’ picture. Jaakko awards Pirjo joint second place.
