The initial task brief is found inside a large jar with the word ‘Resolutions’ printed on it, on the table in the study. The second task brief is handed to the contestants by Paul, after they have completed their celebration. The briefs for the task are as follows:
Ring in the new year in style.
Your New Year's celebration must have a dance, a kiss, a drink, and a resolution.
You have 45 seconds to ring in the new year.
Your five-minute countdown to the new year starts now.
Happy new year!
Complete your New Year's resolution.
Most complete resolution wins.
You have 15 minutes.

Task notes
- Also on the table, there is a clipboard with paper and a marker pen for the contestants to write down their New Year’s resolution, a pair of yellow star-shaped glasses, a party-popper designed to resemble a tiny bottle of champagne, a couple of party-blowers, and several party hats.
- Paul is sat on the sofa at the side of the room, holding a red balloon, and wearing a small gold top hat with the number ‘2025’ on top of it, and a pair of gold-framed sunglasses with the message ‘HAPPY NEW YEAR’ attached above the lenses.
- There are several other balloons and party hats placed around the room.
- Although similar in nature to the ‘Make your wish come true’ task, since New Year’s resolutions tend to be much less fantastical than wishes, and are typically realistically achievable targets one sets for oneself, this task is categorised here as original.
