Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!
- David tried whipping the bin open with a rope as he threw balls at it, and failed to get anything into it.
- Ed kicked the bottom out of the bin and turned it upside down so the lid was still shut. He then threw rocks and a golf ball at the bin from increasing distances. As Greg ruled that the bin was shut, Ed managed to get something in the bin from 12.4 metres.
- Jo got the sound man to open the bin as she threw balls at it, getting something in from 2.6 metres.
- Katy used a spade, and later a ladder, to operate the pedal as she threw a ball into the bin, managing to get something in from 1.4 metres.
- Rose used a plank of wood to operate the pedal as she threw a ball into the bin from 2.45 metres.

Notes on task scores
