Task brief

The task brief is presented on the table in the living room, alongside a set of single-use overalls and a pair of safety goggles. The brief for the task is as follows:

In the lab there is a watermelon.

Eat as much watermelon as possible.

You have one minute.

Your time starts when you open the door to the lab.

Task notes

  • The contestants are instructed to don the overalls and goggles in the living room, before reading the task brief.
  • Greg opines, at the point of judging, that any watermelon inside of you at the time the whistle is blown counts as having been eaten, even if you throw it back up afterwards. However, Alex then reveals that the weight of watermelon eaten was calculated by scooping up and weighing any remaining fruit from the table/floor, including any that had been regurgitated.
  • In episode 44 of the Taskmaster Podcast, Phil Wang revealed that this task was one of those he had tested, during the early development of the show, and that he had smashed the melon up with a baseball bat.
