Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Images will be added later.

  • Fathi brings in a shower stool, an object more commonly seen in the homes of older people. Fathi does not want to admit to owning it, as he is far from being a pensioner. Jaakko awards Fathi second place, as he is aware that such a stool will be in his future soon enough.
  • Pirjo brings in a copy of Brenda Shoshanna’s book Zen and the Art of Falling in Love. On the inside of the book is a hand-written note: “To myself. 9.6.08.” Pirjo’s prize touches Jaakko’s romantic sensibilities, and he awards her first place.
  • Eija brings in a (non-branded) ShamWow that she bought after it was advertised in an infomercial in a post-network content time slot known as TV Shop (this comes up again, later in the episode). Eija either does not want to admit that she watches infomercials, or that she’d bought a ‘wonder cleaning cloth’ that turned out to be actually quite a normal cloth, or both. Jaakko awards Eija fourth place.
  • Krisse brings in two eyelash curlers. It’s unclear why she would not particularly want to admit to owning them, as they're fairly common beauty tools. Perhaps it’s the fact that she has more than one. It may also be a reference to her most famous character (also named Krisse), who tends to be annoyingly perfect, despite putting in no effort. Jaakko awards Krisse third place.
  • Kalle brings in a Christmas laser light projector, which he claims is too powerful for its size. Jaakko awards Kalle last place.
