Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Throw the objects far, but not too far.

Taking turns, choose an object and throw it beyond the red line without it falling off the platform.

If your object doesn't cross the red line, or if it falls off the platform, you're out.

If all the objects stay inside the playing area, the person with the shortest distance is out.

You may not alter your objects in any way before throwing them.

Last one standing wins.

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • In the first round, Rita throws the bean. It stops just past the qualifying line and, as it is at the shortest qualifying distance, she is eliminated, and earns no points.
  • In the first round, Toy throws the bean too hard, and it falls off the end of the stage. He is therefore eliminated, and earns no points.
  • In the first round, Jessica drops the grape close to the contestants' end of the stage, and it rolls to a stop halfway between the qualifying line and the end of the stage. In the second round, she drops the bean midway between the contestant’s end of the stage and the qualifying line, and it bounces to a stop closer to the qualifying line than the end of the stage. In the third round, she drops the pool noodle, and it lands nowhere near the qualifying line. Because neither she nor Gilmário made a qualifying throw in the third round, Vasco tells them both to throw their remaining object. In the fourth and final round, she realises that the egg is rubber, so gently throws it quite close to the contestants' end of the stage. However, it does not bounce in the way she expects, and fails to cross the qualifying line, so she is eliminated, and earns no points.
  • In the first round, Gilmário throws the bean way too hard but, while it appears that it will fall off the end of the stage, it hits the slightly-raised lip of the stage, and rolls back towards the qualifying line instead, keeping him in the game. In the second round, he rolls the grape, which stops midway between the qualifying line and the end of the stage. In the third round, he appears to realise that the egg is made of rubber, and so tosses it gently and low to the ground. However, it still rolls off the end of the stage. Because neither he nor Jessica made a qualifying throw in the third round, Vasco tells them both to throw their remaining object. In the fourth and final round, he throws the pool noodle, and it successfully crosses the qualifying line, so he wins the task, and five points.
  • In the first round, Inês throws the bean too hard but, while it appears that it will fall off of the end of the stage, it hits the slightly-raised lip of the stage and rolls back towards the qualifying line, keeping her in the game. This is especially impressive, because the exact same thing had just happened to Gilmário, whose turn came just before hers. In the second round, she throws the grape, but it fails to pass the qualifying line, so she is eliminated, and earns no points.
