Task briefs

The first task brief is laid on the table in the lab. The follow-up task brief is found inside of the un-wrapped box. The briefs for the task are as follows:

Unwrap this gift the fastest.

Your time starts now.

Re-wrap the gift exactly as you found it.

You must use the same paper as the original present.

The nicest re-wrapped present wins.

Task notes

  • Next to the task brief on the table, there is a gift-wrapped box, which contains the follow-up task brief.
  • Attached to the side of the table facing the camera, there is a roll of tape, a pair of scissors, and a roll of the original gift-wrapping paper.
  • This task was very likely inspired by Christine Morency’s attempt at season 1’s ‘Buy a gift for the Taskmaster’ task, in which she was the only contestant to carefully open the gift containing the task brief, as she was convinced that the task would be to re-wrap the gift using the same paper. At the time, Louis had mused that Christine’s idea would make for an excellent task.
  • To assist Louis in scoring the task, each contestants’ re-wrapped gift (apart from Virginie’s) is displayed on a slowly-rotating turntable, allowing him to view all sides of them. The fact that only still images from various angles of Virginie’s re-wrapped gift are shown suggests that she either filmed the task first (before they decided to use the turntable), or that the turntable was for some reason unavailable for her attempt.
