Task brief

The task brief is attached to the end of a long, extendible pole, held upright in a stand on the gravel driveway in front of the Stormester house. The brief for the task is as follows:

Choose a length for this pole, then transport it through the course.

Whoever completes the course with the longest pole wins.

Every time your pole touches something other than your hands, 10cm will be subtracted from the length of the pole.

You have 10 minutes to complete the course.

Task notes

The course to be navigated begins in the driveway, goes through the front door and entrance hall of the house, then through the lounge, into the study, back out into the lounge, through the back door, and into the garden.
In the garden, the pole must be passed through a play tunnel, two tyres balanced on top of oil drums, and a US-style mailbox.
The pole must then be erected in the stand on the driveway, where it began.
The exact path the contestants must travel is indicated with a series of sheets of paper with pointing hands printed on them. This comes into play in at least one contestant’s attempt.
