Task brief

The task brief is laid on a table in the Dukes Meadows Bandstand. The brief for the task is as follows:

Be the best waiter.

You must serve Alex all his food, drink and cutlery as it is currently set.

If you drop or spill any items, you must clap for a full minute, or else you will be disqualified.

No running.

Fastest wins.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

  • Also on the table, there are: a plate with a pile of eggs on it (some real, and raw, and some rubber); a plate with a pile of chickpeas on it; a large, dark, stemmed glass containing milk; some oversized cutlery; a restaurant menu; a (2 minute) hourglass; and a chequered red tablecloth.
  • Alex leads the contestants, who are initially blindfolded, to a stool at the table. Before they remove their blindfolds and read the task brief, he then leaves them, in order to take up a concealed position, lying down on a recliner, with a lap table over his torso, immediately behind the wall of one of the two other structures in the park.
  • Taskmaster producer Andy Cartwright is seated in one of the nearby structures, wearing a suit like Alex’s, and a large floppy hat (possibly the exact same style of ‘special hat’ won by Sue Perkins, in series 16’s ‘Find the secret task‘ task) to hide his identity.
  • Another decoy Alex is played by Bernard Mannequin, who is dressed the same, and is wearing the same hat, in the other nearby structure.
  • The use of decoy Alexes in this task may have been inspired by the ‘Deliver the pizza to Tom‘ task from Taskmaster AU, and/or the ‘Get the most footage of Paul‘ task from Taskmaster NZ.
